Playing golf requires patience, strategy, and laser-like focus. Watching it in person requires the same attributes. Unlike every other major sport, the field of play is spread out over miles, and the athletes compete on a staggered schedule, facing an entire field of competitors, rather than one opponent. Keeping an eye on the scoreboard, and different players, all the while doing the mental math to figure out which players have so many holes left to lower their score—it’s truly an art.
